Julie Smith Jonson

Of Counsel

Julie, an experienced attorney and RN licensed in Ohio and Kentucky, defends nurses in ethics and licensure cases before the Ohio Board of Nursing. Julie’s clinical training and diverse litigation experience also make her a sought-after consultant for potential and pending litigation.

In a litigation practice spanning more than a decade, Julie has defended health care systems and corporate officers in qui tam, Anti-Kickback, and fraud and abuse cases; defended hospitals and physicians in medical malpractice cases; defended pharmaceutical and asbestos litigation as well as other personal injury actions; and managed individual, MDL, and class-action litigation as national counsel for pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers and distributors. She has also represented plaintiffs in select pharmaceutical products liability cases. After earning her BSN, she has performed hands-on nursing care in intensive-care units in Ohio and Kentucky, worked with physicians and facilities to coordinate access for patients requiring specialized treatment, and made recommendations to improve processes and systems. She draws upon her medical and legal experience, to her clients’ advantage, in her current practice.
