Immigration Bill On the Edge

The Senate Immigration bill is rapidly losing support from both left and right wing supporters as it moves towards a crucial vote today. The bill is a top priority for the Bush administration, but the Republican party resolution disapproving of the Senate bill earlier this week hurt the president’s cause significantly.

In the coming vote, a supermajority of 60 votes are required to impose closure and pass the bill. If this supermajority is not reached, then the bill could be pulled from the floor. Permanently.
