General status reports from Iraq continue to be bleak. Congress’ investigative agency has reported that the Iraqi government has only fulfilled 3 of the 18 benchmark goals it committed to last June, and that the levels of violence between Iraq’s warring factions has not dropped.
Perhaps this is not surprising, but for those of us who hope for some meaningful conclusion to the war – which certainly means the reconstruction and reformation of the country America has ravaged beyond recognition – this is disappointing news indeed.
