The House responded quickly yesterday to Bush’s insistence that his war strategy in Iraq is working, by passing legislation that would require full troop withdrawal by April 1, 2008, beginning in only 120 days. The bill will head to the senate next week and, if it is approved, it will proceed to the President’s desk. Bush will surely veto the bill, but the contentious message remains: the governmental branch that represents the will of the American People is against further military participation in Iraq. God help the Iraqi people – and the Middle East – if our withdrawal turns out to be premature.
